Most pest control companies “treat” your home by spraying a perimeter and moving on. We do not. Freedom Wildlife Solutions & Pest Control was built on a different idea: that pest work and wildlife work belong in the same hands, because the same gaps that let mice in let ants in, and the same homeowner deserves the same expert on the phone either way. From rural Harnett County to downtown Raleigh, from coastal Wayne County to Lee County’s pine corridors, we serve North Carolina with one promise — every problem solved by one team. See our 9-county NC service area.
Why North Carolina Homes Need Pest Control
Central and eastern North Carolina is one of the highest-pressure pest environments in the country. The Piedmont and Coastal Plain combine warm humid summers, mild winters that no longer kill off populations the way they used to, and a constant overlap of agricultural, residential, and wildlife landscapes. Tobacco, soybean, sweet potato, corn, and hog operations across Johnston, Harnett, Wayne, Wilson, Nash, and Lee counties sustain year-round rodent and arthropod baselines that push into homes the moment fields are harvested. River and creek corridors — the Neuse, the Tar, the Cape Fear, the Eno, Jordan Lake, Falls Lake — drive mosquito, spider, cricket, and snake activity into adjacent neighborhoods every spring through fall. Older NC housing stock has crawlspaces, original door gaps, and porch foundations that ants, roaches, and rodents exploit constantly. Newer subdivisions have utility penetrations and garage gaps that bring the same species in through different routes. Seasonality matters too: spring is ant and termite swarm season, summer is mosquito and stinging-insect peak, fall is rodent push-in (rats and mice moving indoors as it cools), winter is overwintering pests (cluster flies, stink bugs, ladybugs, spiders). The “spray once and forget it” model does not match how pests actually move through a North Carolina year. Recurring protection does.

Why Choose Freedom Wildlife Solutions & Pest Control
North Carolina homeowners have plenty of pest control options. Here is what makes Freedom different — and why families call us when a bait-box-and-spray approach has not worked.
- Veteran-owned since 2018. Built by a former military operator on standards that do not flex.
- 500+ five-star reviews on Google. Real customers, real homes, real outcomes.
- We are a pest control company that specializes in wildlife. That order matters — most pest companies “do” wildlife as a side service. We came up the other way, and our pest work is sharper for it.
- Licensed, insured, NWCOA-affiliated. We follow the standards the Nuisance Wildlife Control Operators Association sets, not just state minimums.
- 9-county NC service area — Durham, Harnett, Johnston, Lee, Wake, Wilson, Nash, Wayne, and Cumberland. North Carolina-based, not a national franchise.
- Bug-doctor approach. Rotating chemistry, perimeter-first, interior only when needed.
- Workmanship warranty on exclusion work; free re-services on covered pests between scheduled visits.
“We have used Freedom Wildlife Solutions for everything from bat exclusion to rodent control to our quarterly pest service. They show up when they say they will, they explain what they are doing, and the work actually holds. Erin runs a tight ship.”

Our Pest Control Process
We believe in smart, targeted pest control — not “spray and pray” treatments. Every home is unique, and so is our approach. We act more like a “bug doctor,” carefully diagnosing issues and applying the right solutions based on your specific needs, the season, and active pest pressures.
1. Pest and Wildlife Inspection
Before any treatment, we perform a thorough inspection of your home’s exterior and interior. This helps us identify potential problems early and select the best strategy for your situation. The same inspection often catches early wildlife issues that conventional pest companies miss entirely — chewed soffits, open vents, attic activity, crawlspace access points.
2. Custom Chemical Selection and Rotation
We do not use the same product at every home or every visit. Instead, we rotate professional-grade products throughout the year and select treatments based on the pest pressures we find — just like prescribing the right medicine based on symptoms. This ensures maximum effectiveness and helps prevent pest resistance.
3. Perimeter-Focused Protection
Our primary defense strategy is to build a strong chemical barrier around your home, preventing pests from getting inside in the first place. This proactive approach minimizes the need for interior treatments and keeps your living space healthier and safer.
4. Interior Treatments Only When Necessary, De-Webbing, Granular
If interior issues are found or reported, we carefully treat the affected areas — never more than necessary. This controlled use of interior treatments reduces unnecessary chemical exposure inside your home. We also de-web around the structure to maintain curb appeal and pest control effectiveness, and use granular applications for long-term perimeter coverage. If our inspection catches a wildlife issue we cannot solve with pest products alone, we hand it directly to our wildlife removal services arm — same company, same warranty.
5. Recurring Service & Free Re-Services Between Visits
Our recurring plans schedule professional service throughout the year (4, 6, or 12 scheduled visits depending on plan), and if covered pests come back between scheduled visits, the re-service is free. That is what the plan actually pays for: not the visits themselves, but the insurance against the pests you are paying us to control.
“Had rats in the attic and called Freedom. They inspected, trapped, sealed every gap they could find, and then put us on a maintenance plan. No more rats. Worth every dollar.”

Pests We Handle
North Carolina homes deal with a predictable rotation of pest pressures across the year — and a few wildlife crossovers that conventional pest control misses entirely. Our team handles the full residential and light commercial spectrum, from the species most homeowners recognize to the specialty work most companies refuse.
Ants
Often underestimated, ants can cause significant structural damage and are notoriously difficult to eradicate.
Roaches
These disease carriers are not just a health hazard but also a sign of unsanitary conditions.
Rodents
Beyond health risks, rodents are notorious for causing property damage and electrical hazards.
Spiders
From harmless house spiders to more dangerous species, we handle them all with care and expertise.
Crickets
Camel crickets in the crawlspace is often a sign of a larger moisture problem.
Stinging Insects
From wasps to hornets, we have you covered. Our stinging insect service targets these pesky critters and we will remove their nests.
Termites & WDI
Termites get their own treatment program (Trelona bait system + liquid barrier + WDI reports for real estate closings). See our dedicated termite control page for full detail — not covered under standard recurring pest plans.

Signs You May Need Pest Control
Most pest problems start small. The earlier you catch them, the cheaper and easier they are to end. Here are the signs we get the most calls about — across every county we serve.
Things You Can Hear
- Scratching, scurrying, or thumping in walls, ceilings, or attic — rodents, sometimes squirrels.
- Buzzing inside a wall or near eaves — yellow jackets or carpenter bees building nests.
- Clicking or tapping at night — sometimes termite swarmers, sometimes wood-boring beetles.
- Pest cricket “chirping” coming from inside the crawlspace — usually camel crickets and a sign of moisture issues.
Things You Can See
- Ant trails on counters, baseboards, or pet food bowls.
- Roaches around appliances, sinks, or behind cabinets (or live ones during the day — a sign of a large population).
- Droppings — small dark pellets in cabinets, drawers, the garage, or the attic.
- Spider webs accumulating around the foundation, porch ceilings, or window frames.
- Wasp or hornet nests under eaves, in shrubs, or in carpenter bee galleries.
- Termite mud tubes on foundation walls or wood damage that looks like honeycomb.
- Chewed wires, food packaging, or insulation in the attic or garage.
Things You Can Smell
- A musty odor in the crawlspace or attic — moisture, mold, or rodent urine accumulation.
- A sudden powerful odor in a wall or attic — usually a dead rodent. Call us same-day.
- A sweet, slightly fermented smell near a roach harborage — heavy populations have a distinct scent.
Other Telltale Signs
- Pet behavior changes — dogs and cats fixating on walls, cabinets, or the fireplace are often the first to detect pests or rodents.
- Pet food disappearing or bags chewed open overnight.
- Mosquito bites in your own yard — population is established somewhere on or near the property.
- Recurring spider issues despite seasonal cleaning — usually a food-source problem (other pests).

Frequently Asked Questions About Pest Control
How often should pest control be done?
For most homes and businesses, recurring pest control is the most effective option. Regular service allows us to prevent infestations before they start by monitoring activity, addressing seasonal pressures, and maintaining protective barriers. Some situations may only require a one-time service, but ongoing protection provides better long-term results.
Do you offer one-time pest control services?
Yes. We offer one-time pest control treatments for specific issues or immediate concerns. However, one-time services do not provide ongoing protection, which is why many customers choose a recurring pest control plan after the initial treatment.
What pests are covered under your pest control services?
Our pest control services commonly cover: ants, cockroaches (excluding German), spiders (excluding Black Widows), silverfish, earwigs, centipedes and millipedes, and crickets. Coverage varies by plan — rodent coverage is on Standard Defense and Premium Guard only. For termites, mosquitoes, or wildlife, additional or specialized services apply.
Are your pest control treatments safe for pets and children?
Yes. We use professional-grade products and apply them according to label instructions and industry best practices. Treatments are selected and applied in a way that prioritizes safety for people and pets while still being effective against pests. Our technicians will provide guidance on any precautions needed during or after service.
Do you treat the inside of the home, or just the exterior?
Our pest control services can include both interior and exterior treatments. Recurring plans focus primarily on exterior treatments to prevent pests from entering the home, with interior treatments performed as needed.
How long does a pest control treatment take?
Most pest control services take 30–60 minutes, depending on the size of the property, pest pressure, and whether interior treatment is needed. Larger homes or commercial properties may require additional time.
What happens if pests come back between scheduled services?
If covered pests return between scheduled visits, we come back and re-service at no additional charge. That free re-service is built into every recurring plan — it is the insurance you pay for.
Do I need to be home during the pest control service?
In most cases, you do not need to be home for exterior treatments. If interior service is scheduled, someone may need to be present to provide access. Our team communicates clearly before each visit.
How much does pest control cost?
The cost depends on property size, pest pressure, service type (one-time vs. recurring), and the plan you choose. We provide clear pricing and service recommendations after understanding your specific needs. Call (919) 584-8650 to discuss.
