Pigeon Control & Removal

Pigeons take over a home, business, or barn fast. A few birds on a ledge become a flock — and a flock means droppings on everything below, clogged gutters, corroded equipment, and a real health and slip hazard. We get rid of the pigeons and seal off the spots they roost so they don’t come back.

EXPERT PIGEON CONTROL

Expert Pigeon Control & Removal Company

Pigeons take over a structure, not a lawn — so the fix is structural. Freedom Wildlife Solutions & Pest Control is a pest control company that specializes in wildlife, which means we treat a pigeon problem the way it should be treated: remove the resident flock, then exclude the roost so there’s nowhere left to land. Chasing them off or spraying does nothing — they come right back to the same ledge.

We handle pigeons for both homes and businesses across central North Carolina — from a single balcony or backyard barn to a rooftop HVAC unit, a storefront sign, or a full warehouse. Larger sites run through our commercial bird control program, and homeowners can start with residential bird removal. Veteran-owned since 2018, licensed and insured, and backed by 500+ five-star reviews.

WHY IT MATTERS

Why Pigeons Are a Problem

A few pigeons on a ledge don’t stay a few. Here’s what a settled flock does to a home or business:

Disease-carrying droppings

Pigeon droppings can carry histoplasmosis and cryptococcosis, and stain everything below.

Corrosion & structural damage

Acidic droppings eat away at roofs, HVAC units, signage, and vehicles.

Clogged gutters & drains

Nests and debris block gutters and drainage.

Slip-and-fall hazards

Droppings on walkways, stairs, and loading docks are a real liability.

The good news: pigeons are non-native and not protected — so unlike native birds, we can remove them and seal them out for good.

REVIEWS

What Customers Say

Leland was a great contact and came out to assess the bird problem in our barn. Everything went smoothly, and the technicians did a great job of installing the wire in our barn eaves so that the pigeons would no longer be able to get inside. Great experience!

METHODS

How We Handle Pigeons

Every property is different. We match the method — or the combination — to where the pigeons are landing and nesting.

Pigeon Exclusion & Netting

The permanent fix for docks, courtyards, rafters, and open areas — a physical barrier pigeons can’t get past. See our bird netting & exclusion page.

Bird Spikes

For ledges, signs, beams, and parapets — spikes take away the landing spot.

Shock Track

A low-profile electrified track for high-value ledges and rooflines where pigeons keep returning.

Bird Wire

A nearly invisible post-and-wire system for railings, ledges, and barn eaves — the fix from the review above.

Pigeon Trapping & Removal

For heavy infestations, we reduce the resident flock directly before excluding the site.

Droppings Cleanup & Disinfection

We remove built-up droppings and nests and disinfect the area so it’s safe and clean.

OUR PROCESS

Our Pigeon Control Process

Getting rid of pigeons for good is a sequence — assess, exclude, clean, and keep it monitored. Here’s how we run a pigeon job start to finish:

1. Inspection

We find where pigeons are roosting and nesting, identify how they're getting in, and assess the droppings and any damage. You get a clear explanation and a written quote before any work begins.

2. Removal

When a large flock has settled in, we reduce it first. Netting a spot off keeps those birds from returning — but a big displaced flock will circle and hunt for a new roost, dropping across your property the whole time. Reducing the flock first stops that. The exclusion holds regardless of numbers.

3. Exclusion

We install the right barrier for each roost point — netting, spikes, bird wire, or shock track. Done correctly, exclusion keeps pigeons off that spot no matter the bird pressure.

4. Cleanup & Disinfection

We clear built-up droppings and nesting debris and disinfect the affected areas so the site is left safe, clean, and inspection-ready.

5. Warranty, Monitoring & Maintenance

Our exclusion work is backed by a warranty. Exclusion systems — netting, bird wire, and especially shock track — need periodic maintenance to keep performing, so we put most customers on a monitoring and maintenance program: we keep an eye on the installed work, stay ahead of wear, and watch the bird pressure in your area — reducing the flock again if it ever builds back up.

Every step is documented and backed by a warranty. Call (919) 584-8650 to get on the schedule.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Pigeon Control

How do you get rid of pigeons for good?

We deny pigeons the roost — true exclusion (netting, or sealing the gaps they enter) wherever we can, plus deterrents like spikes, wire, shock track, or optical gel on surfaces we can’t net. When a large flock is present we reduce it first, then we monitor and maintain the work so it stays that way.

No. Pigeons are non-native and not protected, so they can be removed and excluded — unlike native birds.

They can carry disease, corrode surfaces, and create slip hazards. We clean and disinfect built-up droppings as part of the job.

Yes — from barns and balconies to storefronts, rooftops, and warehouses.

Not to a spot we’ve truly excluded — once an area is netted or the entry is sealed, there’s no way back in. Deterrent surfaces (spikes, wire, shock track, gel) hold well but need periodic maintenance, which is why we put most customers on a monitoring and maintenance program and back our work with a warranty.

It depends on the roost, the number of birds, and the exclusion needed. We quote after an inspection. Call (919) 584-8650.

Exclusion physically blocks access — netting an area off or sealing the gaps birds enter, so they simply can’t get in. Deterrents (spikes, wire, shock track, optical gel) make a surface uncomfortable to land on but don’t bar access, so they hold well with maintenance but aren’t as absolute as true exclusion. We use the right mix for your structure.
