Those are recurring-service problems, not one-time calls.
Residential Selma is a third thing again. The Downtown and West Selma Historic Districts hold genuinely old housing — original siding, open gable ends, crawl spaces that were never sealed — and that is where the bats and the squirrels are.

Bats
The housing in the Downtown and West Selma Historic Districts is exactly what a colony wants: tall unsealed gable ends, loose original siding, and attics that hold heat. Bats are protected in North Carolina. From May 1 through July 31, flightless pups are in the roost, and sealing a colony out during that window traps and kills them — which is both illegal and a far worse problem inside your wall. We inspect and quote during maternity season and install one-way exclusion devices once it closes. We also do not exclude below 50°F, when bats are torpid and cannot leave on their own.
Birds
Downtown Selma’s older commercial buildings, the depot structures and the loading areas along the rail corridor collect nesting and roosting birds. Ledges, signage, open eaves and warehouse rafters are the problem spots, and droppings on a commercial building are a liability issue before they are a nuisance. Most native birds, their active nests and their eggs are protected under the federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act. That changes what is legal to remove and when. We work around active nests, then close the vent, gap or ledge once the birds have fledged so it does not happen again next spring.
Squirrels and Flying Squirrels
Older rooflines through the historic districts lose soffit panels and gable vents to time, and squirrels find those openings quickly. Flying squirrels turn up in the same houses and are almost never alone.
Raccoons and Opossums
Restaurant and hotel dumpster areas along the interstate strip support raccoon populations that then work the surrounding neighborhoods. On homes we pull them out of attics, crawl spaces, chimneys and deck voids; on commercial sites the fix usually starts with the enclosure, not the animal.
